India is covered with holy sites, sacred rivers, hills, mountains and places associated with the exploits of the gods, sages and holy men. Millions of people travel to reach these pilgrimage sites and centers of worship. The Temple Tour of India will take us to some of the best and most celebrated temples of India. The tour will commence from the capital city of Delhi (also renowned for its religious shrines). Then it will take us to Jaipur, Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Varanasi. Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world and forms an integral part of the Temple Tour of India.
Upon arrival at the airport and after a traditional 'Swagat' (welcome), our representatives will assist you to transfer to your hotel for check in and overnight stay.
Today, we will enjoy some local sightseeing around Delhi; Humayun’s Tomb built in the Indo-Persian style; India Gate and the surrounding gardens; the President's House called Rashtrapati Bhavan; Parliament House and Connaught Place (the heart of New Delhi).
Today, we will drive to Jaipur, with its rich & colourful past, resplendent with tales of valour & bravery, it is one of the most important heritage cities in India.
Today, we’ll make an excursion to Amber Fort. Later we’ll visit the City Palace, a perfect blend of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture and Jantar Mantar (Solar Observatory), an astronomical treasure house, with solar devices that continue, to this day, to give accurate predictions regarding the movements of the heavenly bodies.
Today, we’ll drive to Agra and en route visit Fatehpur Sikri, constructed by Akbar the Great in the 16th century, it was once an imperial capital, now its ruins are frozen in time forever.
Today, we’ll visit the amazing Taj Mahal, symbol of eternal love, which stands, surrounded by its beautiful gardens on the banks of the river Yamuna. After, we will visit Agra Fort, taken over from the Lodhis and expanded by the same Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great.
Today, we’ll drive to Mathura. Mathura is a very important religious city in Uttar Pradesh. It is the epicenter of Brajbhoomi, the land of Lord Krishna and lies on the banks of the Yamuna River.
Today, we’ll drive to New Delhi. En route we will stop at Vrindavan, Lord Krishna’s birthplace and another major place of pilgrimage.
Today, we’ll drive to Rishikesh. The spectacle of the river Ganges rushing through the Himalayan foothills is an awesome sight, viewed from this ancient and auspicious place. In the evening, we will visit various temples, the suspension foot bridges and ashrams along the banks of the blessed river Ganges.
Today, we will drive to Haridwar. Haridwar is the gateway to the four pilgrimages (Char Dham) in Uttarakhand and is located in the Shivaliks, foothills of the Himalayas and on the banks of the river Ganges. The evening prayer (Aarti), offered at dusk everyday to the Goddess Ganga at Har-Ki-Pauri is a sight to behold.
Today, we’ll take the train to Varanasi. Also called the city of light, Kashi or Benaras, it is the holiest and most entrancing of cities.
Today, we can take an early boat ride on the holy river Ganges and enjoy sunrise from the boat as well as morning views of the ghats (steps down to the river) where the spectacle of the activities of the pilgrims thereon are the principal attraction for visitors to Varanasi. Thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit this city to make holy prayers, to meditate and to purify themselves through taking a bath here in the holy river Ganges.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the airport for the short hop to New Delhi. In New Delhi, we’ll have the rest of the day for leisure.
Today, you will be dropped at the international airport or any point convenient to you in Delhi for your onward journey.
