Deoria Tal is a small oval lake situated at 2200 m. Surrounded by lush green forests and overlooked by the majestic Himalayas including the mighty Mount Chaukhamba, the crystal clear waters relax and at once enervate the intrepid traveller and this area is perfect for the practice of yoga and meditation. From the lake, we’ll trek to the famous temple of Tunganath, one of the Panch Kedar and Arm of Lord Shiva; set on the crest of a hill at an altitude of 3680 m, the site is awe-inspiring in its sacred majesty. From here it’s only a short hike to reach the top of the peak of Chandrashila, where from we can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding snow-clad peaks and of the verdant valleys falling away from our feet into the vast distances.
Our representatives will pick you up from the airport/railway station and drive you to Haridwar. “The gateway of the Gods” and ancient and holy town, where the Ganga enters the plains. In the evening, we can witness the grand Ganga Arthi on the flood-lit ghats.
Today, we’ll drive through the Shivaliks- foothills of the Himalayas - along the river Ganga and her tributaries north to Sari village (180 km). From here, we’ll trek the 2.5 km to Deoria Tal.
Today, we’ll trek 14 km through thick virgin forests to Chopta. We’ll witness the rich flora and fauna of the region and experience the deep peace of the forest.
From Chopta, we’ll trek today through the Bugyals (high altitude grasslands) up to Tunganath, where you’ll have the opportunity to make puja at this famous pilgrimage site before we continue with the a short hike to the top of Chandrashila.
Today, we’ll return to Rishikesh. On the way, we’ll stop at Devprayag to view the auspicious confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirati- from where the Ganga officially begins.
Today, we’ll return to Delhi and transfer you to the airport or the place of your choice.
