Satopanth lake or the Lake of Divinity, situated at 4600m, set in the midst of massive glaciers and surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, is a pristine and magical destination. It is still believed that the holy Hindu trio of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh meditate on its three corners and it continues to attract pilgrims for holy dips in the icy waters. The trek to Satopanth Lake begins at Badrinath (3100m and one of the holy shrines of the Char Dham). It passes over streams, through villages, by waterfalls, across alpine meadows, over icy glacier and is crowded with mountain peaks such as Neelkantha, Swargarohini flank, Balakun and Narayan Parbat .You will be thrilled as you are exhilarated by the awesome natural conditions in this high altitude region. From Mana (ancient tribal village 4 km up from Badrinath at 3,300 m), the trail leads to Vasudhara (145m waterfalls) via Bheem Bridge (huge boulder lying across the river) then on towards Laxmi Van (where the Godess meditated and surrounded by Bhojpatra trees) and finally the trail winds on to Satopanth Lake.
